Tips to Decorate for Spring on a Budget

Spring has sprung, but your home doesn’t seem to have gotten the message. The good news is there are easy tips you can use to decorate for spring on a budget. It all begins with a great color scheme and using what you have on hand.

  1. Choose a Color Scheme

First things first. Consider the colors you want to bring into your home this spring. Look at your paint color and choose colors that will match. For example, if you have tan colored walls, consider teal and spring green accessories to add pops of color throughout your home. If your walls are a dusty blue color, consider adding pops of yellow.

  1. Check to See What You Have on Hand

Chances are you have a closet or even a room loaded with items you’ve decorated with over the years. Look through these items for inspiration. You may find pieces that have a great shape, but aren’t the color you’re looking for. A can of spray paint can turn those old accessories into something new. You can also use things in new ways. For example, if you have scarves you no longer use, but have the color scheme you’re after, sew them to create pillow covers.

  1. Shop Thrift Stores, Flea Markets, and Yard Sales

If you don’t have the pieces you need, start by shopping at thrift stores, flea markets, and yard sales. It may take time, but you’ll find a lot of great pieces. Some pieces may need to be painted to match your color scheme, but you’ll save so much money.

  1. Hit the Dollar Tree

Another great tip is to hit your local Dollar Tree. You can find lots of great accessories and you’ll usually find spring colors throughout the store. This is a wonderful way to get a lot of items for very little money.

  1. Go Natural

Last, but not least, bring the outdoors in. Decorate with flowers, fruit, and other natural items. You may even find items in your own yard that will look great in your home. One important tip. If you’re going to be using twigs or branches in your home, spray them with a few coats of clear lacquer to prevent bringing pests into your home.

You don’t have to spend a fortune to get a new spring look for your home. Sometimes the pieces you need are hiding in your own junk room. You can also find accessories at your local thrift stores or flea markets. All it takes is a bit of hard work and a good eye to find the items you need to decorate for spring on a budget.
