If you purchased an EpiPen between December 17, 2015 and July 1, 2016, you should be aware that Mylan (the company that manufactures the EpiPens) has announced a voluntary recall of 13 lots of select EpiPen and EpiPen Jr. auto-injectors. The FDA stated that the recall was triggered by a defective part that may result in the device failing to inject a potentially life-saving dose of epinephrine.
To find out if you have purchased any of the recalled Epi-Pens, head here and scroll down to see the affected lots. Mylan stated that patients can receive another EpiPen or an authorized generic version at their pharmacy. They also advised that patients should continue to carry and use their current EpiPen until they receive a replacement.
