Create Luxury in Your Home Without Breaking the Bank
Wouldn’t it be nice to experience that luxury that makes you feel special when staying at a hotel, right in your own home? After all, that is where you spend most of your time and you deserve to feel special there.
Does your home feel like a welcome retreat at the end of a long day? Or is it just a place to sleep at night?
If you want to make your home feel more like a place you can’t wait to come in to, try these tips to create some luxury right in your own space without spending a fortune.
If you are constantly tripping or moving things from one area to another, your home probably doesn’t feel all that luxurious to you. We often associate luxury with having fancy things around, but if those fancy things are causing us to feel frustrated and they are getting in the way, then they aren’t luxurious. They are clutter. Take some time and go through each room of your home, take a look at everything in it and recognize how it makes you feel. If it’s broken, fix it or get rid of it. If you don’t like, it doesn’t belong in your home. Start to simplify and clear the clutter, your home will start to feel more welcoming.
- Create a Space Just for Yourself
Even if your home is small, there is probably a corner or a small area that you can make special. A place for your favorite chair and throw blanket where you can enjoy a cup of coffee and a good book. Or a quiet area you like to meditate. Even a small designated area for paying bills and working. Think about how you like to spend your time and what you would need in that space. Then gather what you need and set it up your space today!
- Use Your Nice Towels & Sheets
Do you have certain towels that you only bring out for company? If so, it is time to bring them out and treat yourself. Get rid of all of the itchy, see-through, towels that are falling apart! You deserve the luxury of a nice plush towel to wrap yourself in right out of the shower.
You can do this in your kitchen too. Are there old dishtowels that need to go? Get rid of them and replace them with ones you like.
How about your sheets? Have they seen better days? Are they stretched out of shape, have holes that you’ve mended a dozen times or they are not as soft as they used to be. Check your linen closet for better sheets and get rid of the old ones. If you don’t have a backup set that’s any better, find a white sale going on nearby and treat yourself to a new set of cozy sheets. You spend a third of your life in bed, you should feel good when you’re there.
- Treat Yourself Like the Guest
Are there certain things that you only use when you have company? It’s time to pull them out and use them for yourself once in a while!
Use the pretty hand soap. Light scented candles. Play soft music. Get some fresh flowers. Use your good china for dinner.
